Challenging a new mission at the Karita new factory! A case of developing and introducing an original AGV.
One of the missions in the establishment of the new Kaneda factory of Topre Kyushu Co., Ltd. was to reduce takt time in various situations to improve productivity beyond that of the existing Kurume factory.
From the initial planning stage, the goal was to eliminate lift operations as much as possible and to introduce AGVs to enhance overall competitiveness. However, the requirements for AGVs in parts manufacturing were high, and existing AGVs did not meet the specifications.
Therefore, by developing original AGVs that meet the company's quality requirements, the introduction of AGVs became possible. Additionally, in terms of operation, two AGVs were used as a set across the entire line flexibly, thereby improving system efficiency.
Overall, productivity improvements have achieved a takt time increase of 30-40% compared to the Kurume factory.
